Persian Carpet Ltd is one of the leading specialists and wholesalers in Oriental carpets in the UK, supplying high quality pieces to department stores, specialists and independent retailers. The company specialises in furnishing pieces and also offers the largest selection of oversized carpets in this country.

The owner Koosha Hazaveh puts his success down to a high degree of quality control, a good eye for what the UK market requires, and the advantage of a strong family base in Iran itself. The Hazavehs have been in the business of producing and exporting Persian carpets since the 19th Century. The family originally owned the village of Hazaveh, near Arak, but later moved to Arak itself from which at one time they operated a business owning 4000 looms and employing an army of designers, dyers and weavers.

The business in Iran is now controlled by Mr Hazaveh senior (seen here in the picture), together with his son-in-law and a team of exporters, with branches in Tehran and Arak and associated warehouses in the UK and Germany. Throughout the year he is constantly on the lookout for the finest pieces at the best prices, which he knows will appeal to the UK market. Through agents in places such as Shiraz and Isfahan, thousands of carpets are assembled from which Mr Hazaveh senior will personally select perhaps only one quarter for dispatch to the Sheffield warehouse. This ensures excellent quality and allows Persian Carpet Ltd to offer a wide and unusual range of pieces. Moreover, the company is able to respond rapidly to demand since large stocks are held both in Sheffield, and at the Tehran depot from which they can be flown over within days.
